The attackers launched a total of 479 drones and thirteen missiles of different types against different areas of the country. Much of the projectiles were neutralized.
During the past night, the Ukraine Air Forces demolished 460 of 479 Russian Shahed drones, originating in Iran but already produced by Russia. 277 of these were eliminated and another 183 neutralized by electronic interference. According to the part of this Monday (09.06.2025) of the Ukraine Air Force, this is one of the most massive war attacks.
In addition to the 479 drones-between unmanned attack devices and replicas of the former that Russian troops use to confuse enemy defenses-Russia also fired 4 hypersonic missiles Kinzhal, 10 KH-101 cruise missiles, 2 KH-31P missiles and 1 KH-35 cruise missile against Ukrainian territory. The defenses of Ukraine neutralized all these missiles.
Additionally, the attackers fired 3 kh-22 missiles from the Black Sea, of which the Ukraine security forces could neutralize two. In addition, the Ukraine Air Force reported that direct impacts of Russian drones or missiles were recorded in 10 locations. In 17 more sites fragments of intercepted missiles or drones were detected. No more information about these effects were provided.
Poland displays airplanes
According to Ukrainian media, at least one fraction of the Kinzhal hypersonic missiles – one of the most advanced Russian arsenal and can only be neutralized with the United States patriot launches – were oriented towards the Rivne region, in the northwest of the country. For this attack, located near the border with Poland and, therefore, of NATO, Warsaw launched war airplanes.
The Armed Forces of Poland said that «following the strong air attack of the Russian Federation to the Ukraine region, Poland aircraft and allies began operations in Poland’s airspace in the morning.» The higher government added that «the service fighters moved in pairs and the air defense and radar recognition systems remain at the highest alert level.»
